(Point Comfort, TX)– Formosa Edna education support continues as Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A Texas presented a $75,000 donation to Edna High School (EHS) on October 22, 2024. The funds will support dual credit class tuition, textbooks, and student fees.
The donation came from an educational foundation that Formosa Plastics formed for Edna ISD in 1998. Since 2014, the company has given over $350,000 to the district. The foundation operates like a trust, with earned interest going directly to support local educational needs.
This long-standing partnership highlights Formosa Edna education support and the company’s commitment to improving academic resources and college readiness for students across Jackson County.
Dual credit classes allow high school students to earn college credit while completing high school. This program saves students time and money, enabling them to complete a year of college before graduation.
Thanks to Formosa Edna education support, Edna High School partnering with Victoria College—offers over 30 credit hours in subjects like English, Math, Psychology, Sociology, U.S. History, Government, and Intro to Engineering.Students begin their dual credit journey as sophomores, after passing the TSI test during freshman year. More course options are added during junior and senior years.
“This generous donation will help over 75 students currently enrolled in our dual credit program,” said EHS Guidance Counselor Renee’ Mitchell. “We are so blessed to live in a community that values and supports education.”
