Tree Planting / Reforestation

Formosa’s new tree planting program began in the Fall of 2020, after revising an earlier program.
This program used a diverse variety of native trees to improve the health of our air, water, and soil. Additionally, these trees compensated for vegetation lost in other developments (i.e., solar fields) and absorbed atmospheric carbon.
We started by purchasing tree seedlings from local nurseries while growing new trees from seeds. We required purchased trees to kickstart this program; our goal is to eventually grow all trees from seeds. We transplanted these seedlings into pots and grew them in our nurseries until they were ready for the field.
