Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas, has been recognized as a Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite, demonstrating the company's commitment to supporting employees and their families.

Formosa Plastics became the first manufacturing site in Texas to achieve the Silver Level Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite designation through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The designation recognizes employers that provide workplace policies and resources that support employees who choose to continue breastfeeding after returning to work.

As part of its commitment to employee well-being, Formosa established a dedicated Mother's Room that provides a private, comfortable space for nursing mothers. The company also maintains policies and resources designed to help employees balance their professional responsibilities with the needs of their growing families.

Formosa Plastics representatives Laurie Harvey, Shelby Herrera, and Kyrstin Downs discussed the company's Mother's Room and Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite designation with members of the Port Lavaca Rotary Club.

"We want our employees to know that we support their decision to continue breastfeeding," said Mike Rivet, Executive Director and Site Manager. "We are extremely pleased to be designated as a Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite."

What Is a Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite?

Texas Mother-Friendly Worksite Program was established by the Texas Legislature and is administered by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The program recognizes employers that create supportive workplace environments for breastfeeding employees through policies, accommodations, and resources that help employees successfully transition back to work after welcoming a child.

Supporting employees during important life transitions helps create a positive workplace culture while contributing to employee retention, engagement, and overall well-being. Formosa Plastics remains committed to fostering a workplace environment that supports employees and their families while providing resources that help them succeed both at work and at home.
