Formosa Plastics recommits its membership to the Alliance to End Plastic Waste, with several new projects focused on the removal of plastic waste from bodies of water and properly recycled.

Since 2019, Phase I of the solar project at our NJ HQ building has generated 4.56 GWh of energy, and we are awaiting the production numbers from Phase II of our solar project, which became functional mid-October 2023.

Received a score of 91 at our New Jersey Headquarters building from the EPA's Energy Star certification.

FPC TX donated $670,000 to Calhoun County, Texas for the conversion of the local recycling center into a larger transfer station for the greater area. This project coupled with the Point Comfort recycling program will make recycling much more feasible and accessible for residents.

FPC TX donated $40,000 to the City of Point Comfort, TX to begin a recycling program for locals, providing bins and curbside pickup for residents of Point Comfort.

Civil work begin in the construction of the six-phase project to install solar panels at the Lolita Packaging Facility. At the end of Phase 6, Lolita Packing Facility will run completely reliant on renewable energy.

Our employees in New Jersey once again happily took advantage of our donation day held in partnership with Upcycle and donated to our electronics recycling drive. This is the third successful event we’ve had and have collected more than 7 trucks full of items such as air conditioners, computers, tablets, gaming consoles, etc. which will be kept out of landfills.

Our commitment to sustainability includes converting our company passenger vehicle fleet to electric and hybrid by 2026. In Point Comfort, TX, we are excited to receive our first installment of vehicles, Ford F-150® Lightning ™ trucks, from United Rentals. Texas State Senator Lois Kolkhorst joined us last week and took a test ride in one of the new vehicles to show her support for sustainability initiatives.

More than 100 Jersey employees donated to our electronics recycling drive, held in partnership with Upcycle. This recycling drive helped to keep many items from being put into landfills.

The discharge water to Lavaca Bay was tested by a third party consulting firm for the 29th year, and no adverse impacts to the health or structure of the biological community compared to the previous year and all years prior were found for 2022.

To commemorate Earth Day, 25 associates from Formosa planted 10 dogwood trees at Waterworks Park in Dover, New Jersey with the help of One Tree Planted and NJ Tree Foundation, Inc. The trees at this recently rehabilitated park were planted along a walking path created by students from Dover College Promise, an educational partnership with County College of Morris that prepares local high school students for college. With support from the town, the students created a walking path lined with shrubs, signs, and benches. The trees Formosa employees planted will help produce shade along the path, create habitat for wildlife, and absorb rainwater to help reduce flooding from the Rockaway River.

The Formosa Agricultural and Environmental Research Center (AERC) in Point Comfort, Texas partnered with Calhoun High School Navy Junior ROTC and horticulture students to plant 120 trees at the Formosa-Tejano Wetlands for Earth Day.

On the International Day of Forests, we are proud to share that we are partnering with One Tree Planted in its reforestation efforts in Butte County, California. Butte was among the greatest impacted areas by the 2020 Dixie Fire, and our support will translate to 1,350 trees being planted within the Butte-Yuba-Sutter Watershed, located within the Sacramento Valley Watershed. Restoration will improve the soil microbiome, nesting for threatened and endangered species, and habitat for flora and fauna. Planting will also address the potential loss of the ecosystem caused by high fire intensity that compromises the soil quality.

The Formosa Agricultural and Environmental Research Center (AERC) in Point Comfort, Texas has also been busy with a tree-planting initiative. In 2021, Formosa planted more than 500 trees from 11 different native species on our property in Texas. We plan to plant thousands of additional trees over the next five years.

Formosa Plastics is proud to be recognized as a member of Operation Clean Sweep blue by the Plastics Industry Association. Operation Clean Sweep is a campaign managed by the American Chemistry Council and the Plastics Industry Association, and dedicated to achieving zero plastic resin loss. Operation Clean Sweep blue recognizes companies excelling in the existing program, and strengthens Formosa’s commitment to sustainability and keeping our waterways resin-free.
