Corporate Citizenship
Community Involvement - Habitat for Humanity

Each year Formosa Plastics participates in building homes with Habitat for Humanity through the contribution of both financial assistance and personnel. Employees from around the country participate and are paid their full salaries while working on that year's project. We normally rotate each year's build between Louisiana and Texas.

We usually build these homes from start to finish in a single week, through a process we refer to as a ‘Blitz Build'.

Point Comfort, TX

In 2007 we've teamed with the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Calhoun County, TX and the City of Point Comfort to build the first Habitat for Humanity house ever in Point Comfort, on a lot donated by Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas.

A team of Formosa Plastics employees from all over the country gathered to build a home for a deserving family - from empty lot and floor slab to near move-in condition in just seven days!.

Baton Rouge, LA

Since 2002, teams of Formosa Plastics' employees from all over the country have participated in building homes in the Baton Rouge area. Teaming with both Habitat for Humanity's Greater Baton Rouge affiliate and the Vinyl Institute, we've built several new homes for wonderful people who would otherwise have no nice place to live.

In 2006, we built two homes in a single week! You can view a video of our 2006 '2Xtreme Blitz Build'!

Houston, TX

Twice we have provided funding and teams to build homes in the Houston, Texas area in conjunction with the Vinyl Institute and other chemical industry companies or trade groups.

Others

Over the years we have also built, or helped build, homes in other areas. Our first build took place in 1997. In 2000, we participated in a mega-build that provided 30 new homes in Americus, Georgia. In 2001 we joined other industry volunteers to build four new homes in Sulphur, Louisiana.
