Community Involvement - Formosa Foundation Trusts (Texas)

Formosa Plastics' founder, Y. C. Wang, established five foundation trusts to provide permanent, on-going funding of community organizations and support programs in the area around our Point Comfort, Texas production site.
These foundation trusts include:
- The Calhoun High School Scholarship Trust -- $1,000,000
- The Formosa Plastics Religious Trust -- $1,000,000
- The Memorial Hospital Equipment Trust -- $500,000
- The Edna High School Scholarship Trust -- $500,000
- The Formosa Plastics Environmental Endowment Trust - $1,000,000
Each year they fund a variety of community organizations, activities and programs.

For example, in December, 2011 the Formosa Plastics Religious Trust distributed grants totaling $54,000 to 21 different organizations in Calhoun, Jackson and Victoria counties.
This included awards for the following 8 projects and programs in Calhoun County: |
- The First Baptist Church, Port Lavaca, received $1,000 for its Upward Basketball Banquet.
- Calhoun County Ministerial Alliance received $1,500 for a summer youth recreational program.
- The Awakening Mind Chan Center received $1,500 for its Dharma Learning program.
- Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Port Lavaca, received $3,560 for its youth ministry materials and events.
- The First Baptist Church, Port Lavaca, received $1,500 its See You At The Pole Rally.
- First United Methodist Church, Port Lavaca received $1,500 for its Wednesdays after-school program.
- The Freedom House Assembly of God received $4,500 for its camp, mission outreach and youth conference.
- Texas Buddhist Association, Port Lavaca, received $3,000 to assist meditation and learning projects.

Each year the Calhoun High School Scholarship Trust awards scholarships to help local high school graduates finance their higher education.
In 2011, the Trust awarded a total of 22 scholarships. Since 2007, it has awarded 114 scholarships to local students to further their opportunities for advanced education.
